Rehearsing Timing in PowerPoint

by rhyttinen on March 2, 2008

When making a presentation, you may only have a specific amount of time in which to deliver your talk.  With PowerPoint’s rehearse timing feature, you have the ability to record the timing of your presentation.  This can help you to adjust your presentation so that it does not run under or over your alloted time.
When timing is actived, the Rehearsal Toolbar is presented, which displays the time spent on the current slide as well as the time elapsed for the entire presentation.  Additionally, you can pause timing, repeat the timing for the current slide or advance to the next slide from the toolbar.  When you finish a presentation, PowerPoint tells you the time your presentation took and provides the option of upating the times associated with each slide.  This feature also help you in determing how long each slide should appear on your screen if you decide to use timings during your presentaiton.  You can review or edit individual slide timings when in Slide Sorter View.

To manually adjust the timing of individual slides, check the Automatically After check box on the Animations tab and enter in a new value in timing box.
