Rules in Outlook are a wonderful way to manage your e-mail boxes. If you have a large number of rules and/or have separate rules for several e-mail accounts, you may want to make a backup copy of those rules. This also comes in handy if you use Outlook on several computers – once your rules are backed up, you can then import them into your Outlook application on another computer. To backup your rules in Outlook:
- Select Tools > Rules from the menu.
- Click the E-mail Rules tab
- Click the Apply Changes to This Folder drop-down list and select the mailbox whose rules you want to backup.
- Click Options
- Click Export Rules
- Navigate to the folder where you wish to save your backup.
- Type in a name for your backup file in the File Name box.
- Click Save
