Backup your Rules in Outlook 2007

by rhyttinen on March 3, 2008

Rules in Outlook are a wonderful way to manage your e-mail boxes.  If you have a large number of rules and/or have separate rules for several e-mail accounts, you may want to make a backup copy of those rules.  This also comes in handy if you use Outlook on several computers – once your rules are backed up, you can then import them into your Outlook application on another computer. To backup your rules in Outlook:

  1. Select Tools > Rules from the menu.
  2. Click the E-mail Rules tab
  3.  Click the Apply Changes to This Folder drop-down list and select the mailbox whose rules you want to backup.
  4. Click Options
  5. Click Export Rules
  6. Navigate to the folder where you wish to save your backup.
  7. Type in a name for your backup file in the File Name box.
  8. Click Save
