Enter data in multiple cells in Excel 2007

by rhyttinen on March 3, 2008

Occasionally, you may need to populate a range of cells with the same data.  For instance, you may want to enter “TBD” or “0” in cells whose values you will add later. To enter the same data in multiple cells:

  1.  Select the range of cells into which you want to enter the same data.
  2. Enter the data you want to use and then press the Ctrl + Enter keystroke combination.
  3. When using this method for entering the same formula, Excel inserts the formula as a Relative Cell Reference.  If you need Excel to insert it as an Absolute Cell Reference, press F4 to convert it to an Absolute Reference before pressing Ctrl + Enter.
