If there are ever instances where you need to replace or remove a specific type of formatting – bold, italics, font family, etc., doing so manually can be quite time-consuming, especially if your document is lengthy. For instance, you may want to change all instances of Bold words to Italics, or all instances of Time New Roman font type to Garamond. A quick and easy way to accomplish this is to use the Find and Replace feature, as outlined below.
Find and Replace Formatting in Word
- Click Replace on the Home Ribbon.
- Click Format, and then select the formats that you want to find and replace (you will leave the Find What field blank).
- Click in the Replace with box, click Format, and then select the format which is to replace the existing format.
- Click Find Next.
- Click Replace.
- To replace all instances of the specified formatting, click Replace All.
