Repairing a Damaged Personal Folders File in Outlook

by rhyttinen on March 3, 2008

If you begin encountering error messages while working in Outlook, it is possible that your Personal Folders file is damaged.  To fix this, you will need to run the Scanpst.exe file which is typically located in the c:\\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 12 folder. Double-click the file and browse to Personal Folders file that you want to repair.  If you are using Windows Vista, this is located in the App Data\Local\Microsoft\Outlook subfolder under your User Name folder.  If the file is indeed damaged, the application will ask your permission to repair it.
