Modify Appearance Preferences in Leopard

by rhyttinen on February 10, 2009

From the Appearance pane of the System Preferences window, you can change the appearance of your work area. Here you can personalize your Mac by setting menu colors, location of scroll bars, and more. For instance, you can:

  • Change the colors and highlights of menus, buttons and windows to blue or to shades of gray
  • Choose the color of highlighted text and lists
  • Set the location of the scroll arrows (at each end of the bar or together at one end of the bar)
  • Set the behavior of the scroll bar when clicked (jump to next page or scroll to where you clicked)
  • Choose the number of recent items (applications, documents and servers) to display (5, 10, 15, 20, 30 or 50)
  • Set the style of font smoothing
  • Specify the font size below which text smoothing is turned off.
