Setting Tabs using the Tabs Dialog Box in Word 2007

by rhyttinen on June 19, 2009

If you need to set more precise tabs, you can type in the exact postion of your tabs using the Tabs dialog box (this is actually my preferred method of setting tabs). Positions are measured from the left margin. For example, if you set a tab stop position at 2.4, then a tab will be inserted 2.4 inches from the left margin. From the tabs dialog box, you can also:

• Set the type of tab stop

• Set the default tab stops

• Add a leader (a series of characters such as dots that fills in the empty space between tabs)

• Clear all tabs at once
