Moving Cells in Excel

If you accidentally enter data into the wrong cell or need to move a range of data to a different area of your spreadsheet, there is a quickly and easy way to accomplish this using your mouse. Of course, you can always use the standby “cut and paste” method. Using the mouse however, can save you several keystrokes.

To move cells from one location to another:

  1. Select the range of data you wish to move.
  2. Position your mouse over the edge of the selected cells until your mouse pointer transforms into a hand pointer.
  3. Click and hold down the left mouse button.
  4. Drag the data to the new location and release the mouse button.
