There may be times when you need to open two Excel workbooks that have the same name. Perhaps you wish to compare the data in the two or create a formula involving both workbooks. If you have ever attempted this, you will know now that by default, Excel will not allow you to open two workbooks that are named the same and will give you an error message telling you that the work book is already open.
But fret not, for there is a easy (relatively) workaround. All you need to do is open another session of Excel and then launch the second workbook.
To open two workbooks with the same name:
- Open the first Excel workbook.
- Click on the Start menu button and navigate to Microsoft Office > Excel.
- Once the second session of Excel launches, open the other same named workbook.
