Select the data that the chart will use.

Click the Insert tab on the Ribbon and select the desired chart type to create the chart.

Click the chart to select it.

Click the contextual Design tab under Chart Tools on the Ribbon.

Click the Change Chart Type button on the Type group.

Click the chart you want to use as the default chart.

Click the “Set as Default Chart” button.

Click OK.

Once you have set a default chart type, all you need to do from this point forward is to select your data and click the dialog launcher on the Charts Group of the Ribbon. Your default chart is automatically highlighted in the Insert Chart dialog box.

Most US keyboards only contain one currency symbol that you can enter: the dollar ($) symbol. You can however, enter additional currency symbols from the Symbol dialog box: click the Insert tab on the Ribbon, click the Symbol button and then More Symbols from the Symbol button menu.

This however, can be a tad time-consuming trying to find the symbols you want to use. If you use certain currency symbols often, it might be a good idea to memorize their keyboard shortcut. Most symbols have an equivalent keyboard shortcut associated with them, which is displayed on the bottom of the Symbol dialog box when the symbol is selected. For instance, to insert the Euro symbol you would hold down the Alt key and type 0128 on the numeric keypad – NOT the numbers on top of the keyboard.

Some common symbols you may wish to memorize:

Euro – Alt + 0128
British Pound – Alt + 0163
Japanese Yen – Alt + 0165

Did you know that you can move and copy items without using the Clipboard? This is to say, you can move and copy data without removing the existing clipboard item. I personally use this trick quite often and you might find it handy as well, depending on your workflow.

To Move an Item

Select the item you wish to move.

Press F2.

Set the insertion point where you wish to place the item.

Press the Enter key.

If you wish to copy the item rather than move it, use the Shift + F2 keystroke combination.

Note that this only works in Microsoft Word and Microsoft OutlookSimilar Posts:

You no doubt know that there are keyboard shortcuts assigned to many of the commands in Word. For instance, pressing Ctrl + B applies bold formatting to selected text. But did you know that you change the keyboard combination for commands or add keyboard shortcuts to commands that do not have them? This can come in handy if you use a command often that doesn’t contain a shortcut or you want to change a short to something that is more meaningful or intuitive for you.

This is accomplished from the Customize Keyboard dialog box.

To Change or Add a Keyboard Shortcut to a Command.

Click the File tab on the Ribbon.

Click Options to display the Word Options dialog box.

Click “Customize Ribbon” in the left pane.

Click the Customize button below the “Choose Commands From” window, next to Keyboard shortcuts.

In the Categories window, click the category whose commands you wish to see. To display all available commands, click “All Commands”

In the Commands window, select the command to which you want to add a shortcut key or whose shortcut you want to change.

To change the assigned shortcut key, click in the “Press new shortcut key” box and then press the new shortcut key on your keyboard.

Ctrl + Page Down will move you through the tabs from left to right and Ctrl + Page Up will move you through the tabs from right to left.Similar Posts:

If you find yourself switching back and forth between two views – such as calendar and mail, for example – you might want to consider keeping each view open in a separate window, which you can then arrange side by side. I personally find that this greatly simplifies my work flow as I can easily drag contacts or e-mail messages directly to my calendar using this configuration.

To open a view or folder in a new window, right-click on the item (the calendar button, for example) and then click “Open in New Window”.

To make your screens even more uncluttered, you can also hide the Navigation Pane and the Ribbon.Similar Posts:

You can preview items in your Inbox without opening them by using the Reading Pane. This is ideal if you want to quickly browse through a bunch of messages. To display the Reading Pane, click the View tab on the Ribbon, click the Reading Pane button on the Layout group of the Ribbon and then click Right from the pop-up menu to display it on the right side of your screen. You can also display it on the Bottom of your screen but only a small portion of your message is then visible. Unlike the AutoPreview view (located under the Change View button on the View Ribbon), the Reading Pane displays any graphics or text formatting in the message, not just the message text.

To Use the Reading Pane

Switch to Mail View.

To turn on the Reading Pane, click the View tab on the Ribbon, click the Reading Pane button and then click on either Right or Bottom from the menu

To turn off the Reading Pane, click the Reading Pane button and then click Off.

Note: When viewing messages in the Reading Pane, potentially malicious scripts or attachments are not opened or executed. Messages can be safely previewed in the Reading Pane.Similar Posts:
