How to Disable the Mini-Toolbar in Word
Posted by Roger Hyttinen on
When you select text in Microsoft word, by default the Mini-Toolbar appears. The Mini-Toolbar displays whenever you right-click on selected text and provides quick access to common formatting commands such as bold, italic, font color, font type, font size, fill color, increase indent, decrease indent and increase/decrease font size.
While this toolbar can be convenient, it can also be cumbersome, especially if you’re trying to move text around on your document using click-and-drag. Luckily, you can turn it off from the Word Options window if you find it irritating or otherwise distracting.
To Turn Off the Mini-Toolbar
- Click the File tab on the Ribbon.
- Click Options in the left pane.
- Click the checkbox next to Show Mini Toolbar on selection to uncheck it.
- Click OK.
Tip: You can temporarily display the Mini-Toolbar by right-clicking on highlighted text, even if you have it turned off.
