How to use PowerPoint's built-in laser-pointer

If you are delivering a PowerPoint presentation over a network, you cannot use a traditional laser-pointer to bring your audience's attention to specific areas of your presentation. However, you no longer need a physical pointing device - PowerPoint provides its own laser-pointer that you can activate with a simple shortcut key.

To Use The Laser Pointer in PowerPoint

  1. Start your PowerPoint presentation
  2. Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and click the left mouse button. Your cursor transforms to a colored laser-pointer that moves with your mouse and will appear as long as you keep the Ctrl key held down.
  3. To navigate to the next slide, release the Ctrl key and mouse button.

That's it - instant laser-pointer!
