The Office Clipboard allows you to assemble data from several locations in the same document or from different Office documents, and then paste those items one at a time into any Microsoft Office document. Unlike the Windows clipboard which holds only one item, the Office Clipboard can store up to 24 items that you have cut or copied.
To use the Office Clipboard feature, ensure that the Clipboard Task Pane is visible by clicking the Clipboard Dialog Launcher on the bottom right corner of the Clipboard command group. Then, use the standard copy or cut commands. Each item that you copy or cut (up to 24) will be individually placed in the Clipboard for your later use. Note that the Office Clipboard collects items you copy only while the Clipboard Task Pane is visible.
Once you exit Word, all items from the Office Clipboard are removed.
Quick Guide: To Use the Office Clipboard
- On the Home tab in the Clipboard command group, click the Clipboard Dialog Box Launcher.
- Select the item you wish to copy or cut.
- Click the Copy or Cut button.
- Repeat steps two and three for any additional items you want to place on the clipboard.
- Set the insertion point in the document where you wish to paste one of the items from the Office Clipboard.
- Click the item in the Clipboard list or click Paste All to paste all of the Clipboard items at once.
- When finished, click Clear All to remove all items from the Office Clipboard.
- To turn off the Office Clipboard, click the Close button on the Clipboard task pane.
